Straightening Your Smile Without Anyone Noticing
What Are Clear Aligners?
Clear aligners are a series of custom-made, transparent plastic trays designed to fit snugly over your teeth. Each tray in the series is slightly different from the last, gradually and gently guiding your teeth toward their proper position over the course of treatment. Patients typically move to a new tray every one to two weeks, with each set building on the progress made by the one before it.
Unlike traditional braces, which are fixed in place for the duration of treatment, clear aligners are removable, meaning you can take them out to eat, brush, and floss normally. This flexibility, combined with their nearly invisible appearance, is part of why clear aligners have become such a popular choice for both teens and adults.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Clear Aligners?
- Mild to moderate crowding or spacing between teeth
- A minor to moderate bite misalignment
- Teeth that have shifted since previous orthodontic treatment
- A preference for a discreet, removable treatment option
- The discipline to wear your aligners consistently, typically twenty to twenty-two hours per day
What Issues Can Clear Aligners Correct?
- Crowding, where teeth overlap or twist due to insufficient space along the jaw
- Spacing, including gaps between teeth caused by missing teeth, small tooth size, or natural spacing
- Mild to moderate overbite, where the upper front teeth extend too far over the lower front teeth
- Mild to moderate underbite, where the lower front teeth sit further forward than the upper front teeth
- Crossbite, where one or more upper teeth sit behind the lower teeth when biting down
- Open bite, where the upper and lower front teeth do not touch when the mouth is closed
